Ivor Heller has thanked our fans for providing great support to a charity challenge that left him with no hair!
Our Commercial Director, who has provided plenty of humour at a difficult time by showcasing his whacky daily challenges from his back garden on social media, was dared by fans to shave off all his hair on Sunday.
After his hair-raising experience, Ivor wished to thank our supporters for backing his challenge and he sent out the following message:
“I am on the steering committee for Merton Giving. This charity gives amazing support to our community in Merton. Having lost a lot of funds through the cancellation of many events, the idea of the 2.6 challenge emerged. I offered to take part, dedicating my 2.6 challenge to Merton Giving. Then I decided that I wanted to raise a large amount, so £1,000 for the beard to go came to mind! Then it became £2,000 for the my whole head of hair!
“As soon as it went public the money started to roll in, so by early on Sunday I knew I was done and the hair was a goner! I can honestly say I have been blown away by the amount raised of £4,000. Several of the players contributed, and so too did a lot of the fans. With the formation of the Dons Local Action Group, we have never been more present in Merton and I am so delighted with our response to this horrible epidemic.
“Some are saying football is not coming out of this crisis well, but I can assure you that AFC Wimbledon most certainly are. Thanks to everyone for their support. If anyone still wants to contribute, please access this link.”
