In an interview for Football Ramble Daily, Marcus Mumford talks enthusiastically about supporting AFC Wimbledon and why he chose to support us instead of Man United!
The interview with Andy Brassell is well worth tuning in for as it includes Marcus sharing his first experiences of following Wimbledon.
“I went to my first game in 1996 when Beckham scored from the halfway line at Selhurst Park,” said Marcus. “I missed the goal though because I was eating my chips! I was told in no uncertain terms by my mates at school that living in Wimbledon and being a Man United fan was not going to work, so I had no choice! Since then I’ve been a Wimbledon fan and I’ve never regretted that for a second. Since AFC Wimbledon took up the reins of being Wimbledon’s football club, most people around the world who like football have heard the story.”
The interview is also to promote a good cause as Marcus talks about his charity work.
The Mumford & Sons front-man released a stripped-down piano cover of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone” with proceeds from the streams and downloads aiding The Grenfell Foundation and War Child UK - two organisations that help vulnerable communities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
