Reuben's upbeat message to 'inspirational' Kevin

Young Dons defender congratulates Dons fan on his latest achievement

First year AFC Wimbledon professional Reuben Collins has delivered a congratulatory message to Kevin Webber after his latest fantastic achievement.

In an article on the official website on Friday, we updated you about Dons supporter Kevin, who completed a 250 km challenge in his garden - five years since he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.

In his post to Kevin, which featured on our Academy Twitter page, Reuben put together a message that we felt was worthy of repeating at this difficult time for us all.

"I am not sure if you remember me, but last pre-season when I was a scholar you came in and spoke to us about your life story and your journey so far," Reuben said. "I know for a fact that the players and staff found it highly inspirational. I, for one, was in awe of your mentality to turn a situation, which many people would deem negative into such an enormous positive. To this day, I still use your story as an inspiration when I'm tested mentally.

"Whether it's on or off the pitch. I think to myself, 'Come on Reuben, this is nothing compared to what Kevin has been through, sort yourself out, and let's push on'. I've heard about your most recent achievement and I wanted to congratulate you personally. Despite these unknown and nervy times, you still managed to find a positive from it and inspire many others while doing so. You've set a great example to others and I know for a fact that the club are proud to call you a Don. Once again, congratulations on completing your Marathon and raising £30,000. Just keep on spreading positivity and being your awesome self. Come On You Dons!"
