Rob resigns after cup shocker!

Manager tenders his resignation

23 April 2020

Rob Tuvey immediately tendered his resignation after Wimbledon were today eliminated from the EFL Football Manager Cup.

Goals from Wes McDonald and Zak Jules were enough to progress for visitors Walsall, who were the better team throughout.

Following the 2-0 defeat, Rob was quick to accept his managerial deficiencies on the day and gave a frank assessment afterwards.

"I have to apologise first to my family and, of course, the fans for simply not performing on the day," said the lifelong Dons fan. "As a result I would like to tender my resignation as AFC Wimbledon's Virtual Manager with immediate effect. I wish all the players and staff all the best for the future. Come On You Dons!"

Due to the manner of defeat, AFC Wimbledon reluctantly accepts Rob's resignation and we wish him all the best for the future. We have already put together a shortlist of potential candidates for Rob's successor and we will keep you updated with any developments.
