Tim Henman praises work of Dons Local Action Group

9 April 2020

Tim Henman has acknowledged the superb community spirit shown by our Dons Local Action Group in a message on social media.

The man famed for his tennis skills in a sporting venue close to our spiritual home recognised the fantastic work of our supporters and encouraged them to keep going by posting a message on Twitter.

Tim, who was once ranked the number four tennis player in the world after his impressive displays at Wimbledon, said: "I just wanted to send a message to the Dons Local Action Group and those at Old Ruts Rugby Club to keep up the good work. I heard that you've been delivering lots of food parcels to the elderly in and around the Merton area. Hopefully, everyone can stick together in these challenging times and we will come out the other side in a better place. Take care, stay healthy, and all the best."

The Dons Local Action Group continues to help people in Merton and Kingston on a daily basis. A group of volunteers have been helping stranded individuals and families to tackle the coronavirus crisis by supplying vital food boxes to those in need. If you'd like to join our community champions then please e-mail: DLA@afcwimbledonfoundation.org.uk or call 020 3301 4511. If you'd like to help out from further afield, a JustGiving page for the Dons Local Action Group has been set-up.
