Bayzo writes the script for an enjoyable start to “The Trueman Show”

Watch our Goalkeeper Coach getting new Dons keeper ready for start of season

Connal Trueman said he is relishing the ‘friendly rivalry’ of joining Bayzo’s goalkeeping team after his first week of training with AFC Wimbledon.

The famous 1998 film called The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey, follows the central character for three decades, but thankfully for our new keeper we turned the cameras on for just one morning!

You can watch our goalkeeping coach Bayzo putting his four-strong team through their paces with on-loan keeper Connal joined by England Under-17 international Matthew Cox, Nik Tzanev and Zaki Oualah. Take a look at the video below, as Rob Cornell joined Bayzo and the boys for a training session.

Connal said: “I’ve settled in really well so far. The lads have all been really welcoming and we are at the time of pre-season when it’s straight into business and straight into working hard in training with the lads. It’s definitely a competitive group, there’s definitely friendly rivalry between us all, but you have to enjoy yourself. As a professional footballer, it’s a dream, so you have to come here with a smile on your face. I think that’s when you get the best out of yourself as well.

“He (Bayzo) is a lively guy and I really enjoy it. That suits me down to the ground, so it won’t take much adjusting at all.”

Bayzo spoke enthusiastically about a good start to training in pre-season with all of the goalkeepers showing a great attitude to training.

“We’ve got a good group,” he said. “Obviously, we brought Connal in on loan to add to the group. We’ve got Nik, young Coxy, and Zak, who trains with us every day as well. We are looking forward to everything that’s coming towards us now. You can’t beat training and playing, so we’re looking forward to all the games coming thick and fast now.

“Connal has been in for a week training. I had a great week with him training and he has settled in well with the group. There is a lot more to come, so I’m really pleased.”
