Bidding is hotting up for this year's auction - and all funds raised will be donated to the Dons Local Action Group.
Mainly due to COVID-19 and logistical issues, the the traditional Silent Auction is not taking place this year, but three special items are up for grabs.
With huge thanks to AFC Wimbledon kitman extraordinaire Robin Bedford, we are giving you the opportunity to bid for a very unique item celebrating our return to Plough Lane, plus a couple of other Dons-related items – and organiser Ray Armfield will do his best to ensure they reach the winning bidders before Christmas if required!
There's still time to get your bid in before the deadline at 10.00 pm on Friday night. Below is a bit more about each item, plus bids received so far.
Item 1 – BACK TO PLOUGH LANE SHIRT (£465)
A brand new Size XL Puma 2020/21 AFC Wimbledon home shirt signed to the back by Glyn Hodges and the Dons squad that played Doncaster Rovers in the stadium opener on 3 November, including skipper Will Nightingale and double goalscorer Joe Pigott. The shirt is also printed with BACK 2 PLOUGH LANE in the gold lettering used to mark the occasion. A fantastic memento of a milestone moment.
Item 2 – MATCH-WORN (AND SCORED) PAIR OF MARCUS FORSS BOOTS (£95)
The Flying Finn is banging in the goals for Brentford and Finland – and attracting the attention of Premier League clubs – and we have a pair of his Size 7 /12 Adidas X boots, as worn when he scored at Bristol Rovers on Boxing Day, plus a few other games in the fetching colours of graphite and tangerine! Not to be missed.
Item 3 – MATCH-WORN ANTHONY WORDSWORTH PLAYING SHIRT (£110)
Size XL and worn by Anthony in the home game against Fleetwood Town in February, complete with the usual Sky Bet League One decal, plus another for Heads Up. One for all you shirt collectors.
Please make your bids (specifying for which item, the amount and supplying a contact telephone number) to Ray via e-mail at kentwomble@googlemail.com who will update you on the progress of your bids. Bidding ends at 10.00 pm sharp on Friday 18 December.
All proceeds from this mini-auction will go to Dons Local Action Group to assist with their magnificent efforts in supporting the local communities. You can read more about DLAG and if you’d like to make a donation anyway, please head to www.justgiving.com/campaign/donslocalaction.
Many thanks and happy bidding!
