Club legend Dickie Guy got to work early this morning to begin signing nearly 2,000 copies of our brilliant new book, We Are Home.
The books only landed in the country on Wednesday from the printers in Italy and Dickie, who has written an emotional foreword, was overwhelmed by their quality. “They’re absolutely brilliant - I don’t think we’ve ever produced something so special,” he said. “It’s everything you could possibly want to know about our wonderful club, right up to our first historic game in our new Plough Lane stadium.
“I can’t stop looking at the photographs! There are some really old ones that take me down memory lane and then all the new ones, which show our magnificent new home inside and out. I’d recommend this book to absolutely everyone – it really is the perfect Xmas present and I feel proud to be signing so many copies.”
Demand for the books has been phenomenal but Dickie has vowed to personally sign every copy that was pre-ordered before 5pm last night (Thursday, December 10). “I don’t care if it takes me all weekend,” he smiled. Once done, the signed copies will then be posted out on Monday (the 14th) to arrive in good time for Christmas.
If you haven’t already placed an order, then please don’t delay. Copies will go on sale for the first time at our club shop in Wimbledon’s Centre Court later TODAY (Friday) and you can still purchase online by going to shop.visionsp.co.uk/wearehome .
We Are Home is a unique history of The Dons from the moment our forefathers kicked off on Wimbledon Common in 1889 right up to Joe Pigott scoring our first goal inside our new home. Everything in-between is covered, from the Wembley highs to the desperate lows when our beloved club looked doomed. With 336 pages, over 55,000 words and more than 500 photos, it really is something you will treasure for years to come.
Be warned, though! Copies are limited - and selling fast - and can only be bought via the website (above) or at our club shop. We Are Home won’t be available on Amazon and you won’t see any copies in your local bookshops.
So get ordering before it’s too late!!
