Midfielder Jaakko Oksanen has taken a vital step towards first-team football back at Wimbledon after getting 45 minutes under his belt for Brentford B.
The 20-year-old, who had made an impressive start to his loan spell here before suffering an ankle injury at Burton on 24 October, yesterday played in a 4-1 win for the Bees' second string against Huddersfield B.
Speaking in an interview after the game for Brentford FC’s website, Jaakko said: “I’m really close to getting back to playing regularly again, and I’m looking forward to it. My loan spell was going well until the injury as I was starting a lot of games, but now I’m hoping to get back there (Wimbledon) and do the same thing all over again. I’m buzzing to get back – I just want to get back playing football week in and week out.
“I was ready to take the next step after spending a while with Brentford B. It’s challenging (playing at League One level). It’s a big difference to the Championship, but the tempo and physicality is there so it’s good for me to develop.”
