It’s Valentine’s Day. And today we are asking everyone to show a little love for AFC Wimbledon, and in particular the Plough Lane Bond.
The clock is ticking. The Bond, which is administered and offered by the Dons Trust, is looking to help cover some of the remaining costs of the move back to Plough Lane.
The initial target, set a couple of weeks ago, was to raise £5m in loans by midnight tonight. As of 11.30 pm last night that figure stood at just over £4.2m.
The players have joined in with the call and now it is up to you to spread the word, as you can see from the video below.
This morning, our social media channels contained tweets and posts with Terell Thomas making a heart shape with his hands asking for people to show a little love for AFC Wimbledon by backing the Bond.
Please share the posts as far and wide as possible with your own picture and encourage as many other people to do the same.
Xavier Wiggins, co-founder of the Plough Lane Bond, said: “It is simple we want as many people as possible to know about our dream. The effort so far has been phenomenal. We have had wide support from former players and managers, celebrities, and politicians.
“And then there has been the effort of our supporters. They have been out on the streets of South London and beyond distributing thousands and thousands of leaflets. We are so close to that magic £5m. A return to Plough Lane as a fans-owned club would complete our romantic fairytale, but we need everyone now.
“We want everyone to help out and show a little love for the Dons and help take us home. Spread the word.”
AFC Wimbledon manager Glyn Hodges added: “The Bond is a great idea. And the money has flooded in. Please keep it coming.
“If it helps us all get back to where we need to be and get back to Plough Lane, that’s brilliant. The effort of people putting their hands in their pockets, we are all thankful. The players and the staff can’t thank you enough.
“Let’s go on with this. Let’s get back home.”
The Plough Land Bond offers annual returns of up to 4%. Minimum investment starts from £1k with loans running for five, ten and twenty-year terms. Your capital is at risk. Please see the website www.ploughlanebond.com for full terms and conditions and risk factors.
