Glyn Hodges is still working hard to boost Wimbledon’s squad ahead of the transfer deadline, but our manager said that he will not be making a signing just for the sake of it.
Speaking at the training ground this afternoon, Glyn said: “We are working hard still. What’s important, and what we have to remember, is that they have to be the right fit. The ones we signed last January were brilliant. If they are not the right fit, then there’s no point bringing someone in for the sake of it. We are still hopeful, but having said that, the way that Mitch Pinnock has performed, it looks like we’ve found a new striker there. Any player we bring in has to be better and able to fit in straight away.
“It’s weird that Friday is deadline day when we have to travel on the train up for the game. If we do bring anyone in, they won’t have time to bed in, or do any work with the team. That’s a difficult one in itself.
"You want them all fighting for places, there are no guarantees. It’s great if someone is pushing you and breathing down your neck for your shirt. That’s a good environment to create. Even if nothing happens, I’m more than ready to go into the next three months with this squad. We’ve got more than enough, if we keep performing the way that we have been, to be okay.”
