Young Dons keeper earns the plaudits

Loan watch: Bert benefits from work experience deal

Young goalkeeper Bert White has returned to the club with a glowing report from Combined Counties League team Westside.

The Chalky Lane-based side were greatly impressed with Bert, pictured with the Westside management team, during his brief work experience deal with the club. His deal ended on Saturday, following a 2-2 draw with British Airways, but Bert made a vital save to help earn a point in Division One.

Irish winger Dylan Connolly played in the Sky Bet League Two, top of the table clash at Swindon Town on Saturday. He made his 18th appearance in all competitions for the Bantams in the 1-1 draw with the leaders, a result that sees Bradford in fourth place and six points behind top spot.

Having extended his loan with Sutton United until the end of the season, New Zealand international goalkeeper Nik Tzanev headed to Chesterfield for a Vanarama National League game. Although the Surrey side went down 1-0, in front of a crowd of over 3000, they still sit in mid-table having been in the relegation zone when the young Kiwi arrived.

Defender and third year scholar Jamil Awoyejo and forward David Fisher both played on Saturday, for our next opponents South Park. Before tomorrow night’s Surrey Senior Cup tie, the pair were involved in a 2-0 defeat at home to Westfield in the Isthmian South Central. David’s work experience has been extended until the end of March.

Of our three Leatherhead loanees – Finlay Macnab, Tommy Wood and Zach Robinson – Finlay got vital game time over the busy Christmas and the New Year holiday.

He started in wins away to Cray Wanderers and at home to Carshalton Athletic. On Saturday though, Finlay was part of a Tanners side that went down 3-0 at nearby Corinthian-Casuals in the Isthmian Premier. Finlay has had his loan extended at Leatherhead for another month.

Midfielder and second year scholar KJ Osu has had a mixed start to a work experience loan with Isthmian South Central side Staines Town. He played for 69 minutes in the New Year’s Day draw with Uxbridge, while he got the full 90 minutes under his belt in the weekend's 1-0 defeat at Harlow Town.

Midfielder and third year scholar Richie Mbele has been starting for Combined Counties League side Godalming Town, but has been on the receiving end of two defeats to Fleet Spurs and more recently Sandhurst Town on Saturday.
