A number of people have enquired what is happening with the personalised bricks that were sponsored by fans when we extended the Paul Strank Stand a number of years ago.
Having considered the options, we will be arranging for a full-size vinyl print replica of the bricks to be installed at our new stadium - this will involve specialised photography to create a life-like replica that we will position in a viewable area within the new stadium.
The actual bricks will remain at their current location. It would not be practical or cost-effective to remove them, and it is not our prerogative to do so, now that we no longer own the stadium. Furthermore, not all of the original sponsors are contactable and we cannot take it for granted that everyone would want their bricks to be moved from the stadium that was AFC Wimbledon’s home for 18 years, not to mention those bricks that were purchased by Kingstonian fans, who would not wish for their bricks to be taken to our new stadium.
We have also asked Chelsea whether they would be amenable to preserving the bricks and handing them across to us if they ever decide to make renovations or changes that include removing that wall.
