Thanks to the incredible efforts of our band of sewing volunteers, we have another 130 face coverings on sale from 7.00 pm tonight (Friday).
Despite the blistering heat of the last few days, our volunteers have carried on utilising their silky skills to make face coverings adorned with your beloved Wimbledon crest.
Don’t worry if you miss out on snapping up one of the 130 initially on sale because we have also ordered 500 masks from an external source, and they should be arriving next week.
Last week’s efforts raised a whopping £735 for the Dons Local Action Group in little over 40 minutes and not just through the sales of the face coverings, as our Retail Manager Mat Haylock explains: "The way the postage works on the current shop means that any purchases totalling over £10 attract a £6 postage charge. That meant people who ordered two coverings paid £6 for P&P. We’d anticipated this and had an e-mail drafted, which was sent to everyone who bought two masks. We offered them the choice of a refund of half the postage, or to donate the over-payment to the DLAG. It’s testament to the generosity of our fans that every person donated the extra £3 to the DLAG, which increased the total by £120."
The DLAG have already spent a good portion of the money on umbrellas printed with the club crest and the charity’s logo to keep their volunteers dry throughout the British summer!
The face coverings will be on sale from 7.00 pm tonight by visiting our online shop.
