From zero to hero: Terry Brown on the glory of 2008

It's almost 12 years since a key victory that proved to be the launchpad for our rise back to the Football League - the dramatic 2-1 victory at Staines Town.

The Dons were finally on the verge of ending a three season stint in the Ryman League, but Staines Town had other ideas and they were leading 1-0 with eight minutes to go of the play-off final at Wheatsheaf Park. Terry Brown said afterwards: "I was 10 minutes away from being the biggest doughnut in the world, who has wasted a year of their lives, or you come back and you're a hero."

The late goals by Luis Cumbers and Mark De Bolla signalled jubilant celebrations from thousands of Dons supporters at Staines Town. Take a look at a video feature below that relives all the drama of the day with narration by Mikey T!
