Dave Beasant today celebrates his 61st birthday and all at AFC Wimbledon wish him many happy returns.
Of course, 'Lurch' as he was dubbed by the Crazy Gang, famously saved John Aldridge's penalty to help Wimbledon to cause one of the great FA Cup Final upsets against Liverpool in 1988.
Dave has been a frequent visitor to AFC Wimbledon over the years and he attended the 30-year anniversary celebrations at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. In an interview at that event, Dave praised the efforts of supporters for paving the way back to Plough Lane.
“The effort that has gone into getting the club back to Plough Lane, and to get this stadium started, is tremendous. The fact that everyone has fought so hard to get back there is a tribute to the spirit and never-say-die attitude of this football club.”
