Matchday Guide for The Dons versus Bolton

A summary of arrangements for Saturday's home game

6 March 2020

AFC Wimbledon have an opportunity to push further away from the League One drop zone with a victory against Bolton Wanderers and more of your great support will be appreciated in pursuit of three vital points.

There’s been high demand to attend this game and we’ve now sold out of all tickets for home areas.

Take a look below at our matchday guide – it’s a particularly busy one tomorrow!

ST returns

Please let us know if you are an ST holder not planning to attend this game. It will enable us to make your ticket available to get more support for The Dons. E-mail info@afcwimbledon.co.uk or leave a message on the club answer machine (020 8547 3528).

Ladies & Girls Day

The AFC Wimbledon Ladies and Girls sections will be celebrating this season’s successes. On the pitch at half-time, the U11s girls teams will be showcased with a skills test, and the rest of the girls section will be doing a lap of honour. During the day, players will be in and around the ground shaking buckets to collect much-needed funds. If you can help with even just a few pence, the girls would be very appreciative.

Bars

The bars will be open from 12 noon on Saturday and supporters can get here in plenty of time to watch the lunchtime match on TV screens between Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth (12.30 pm kick-off). Burnley versus Tottenham Hotspur is the early evening game and you can stay on after Wimbledon’s match to catch the action on TV. As per usual, a wide selection of drinks will be served at the bars, including real ales, and the pre-poured drinks facility will be available to speed up queuing times. Below is more information about drinks available in the bars.

Main Bar – Plough Lane Ale, Copper Leaf Ale, SW19 Summer Ale

Back Bar – Plough Lane Ale, Killcat Ale, SW19 Blonde

Pop-up Bar (open from 1.45 pm, pre-poured drinks only) - Based in the Your Golf Travel Bar, this will serve pre-poured pints of Wimbledon Gold lager, Pale ale, Budwesier, and Stella.

We will be pleased to welcome Bolton supporters into the bar areas before the game.

Programme

Saturday's edition features an extensive interview with Terell Thomas, who recently passed the half century for AFC Wimbledon appearances. Find out what our consistent defender is doing during his spare time away from football and his thoughts on the club's Plough Lane return. Adam Roscrow is also interviewed, as he edges closer to that elusive first league goal for AFC Wimbledon. Packed with news and features all about our club, it's well worth adding to your collection, priced at £3.

Level Playing Field Day of Action

AFC Wimbledon will on Saturday be celebrating the community work that makes the matchday experience inclusive for everyone. As it's our designated Level Playing Field Day of Action, players will be wearing T-shirts in the pre-match warm-up to promote it and match day staff will wear pin badges.

Level Playing Field’s Weeks of Action were established in the early 2000s to highlight the positive initiatives undertaken by clubs, sporting venues, governing bodies and disabled sports fans themselves to create an inclusive match day for all. Year on year engagement has increased and 2020 will be the 16th year of the Week of Action. Visit the Level Playing Field website for more information.

A unique version of the Wimbledon story!

There's extra incentive to stay on after Saturday's game against Bolton as we will be showing 'The History of Wimbledon Football Club - As Told in Lego'.

Dons supporter Charlie Strank's fantastic animation will be on TV screens in the Your Golf Travel Bar at our post-match Man of the Match presentation. It will also be shown in pre-match hospitality. For more information about Charlie’s work, see our previous article.

Plough Lane Bond

It’s been a tremendous effort by the Plough Lane Bond organising team and supporters with over £5.3 million raised so far. You can chat to members of the organising team by the Dons Trust kiosk before the game. Alternatively, you can talk to them after the match in the back bar, or in the Your Golf Travel Bar (following the Man of the Match presentation). You can e-mail ploughlanebond@thedonstrust.org to arrange a specific time to chat.

Pop-up book stall

AFC Wimbledon Foundation will be hosting a pop-up book stall (1.30 – 2.30pm) outside the back bar by the inflatable penalty shoot-out, as part of World Book Day 2020.   Children will receive a free book voucher to select a reading book from the stall or from a local bookshop. Families are encouraged to bring their children along to choose a book and score a goal!

Get your match day treats!

Young Dons supporters George Bond and Joe Tynan have made a big success of their business venture! Their sweet stall will once again be open before Saturday’s game (from 1.00 pm until close to kick-off, based close to the back bar/entrance to the Chemflow terrace). Don’t leave it too late to get your match day treats! Funds will be donated towards the club.

Tickets for away games

Wimbledon supporters have an opportunity to buy tickets for the away game at Doncaster Rovers, which takes place on Saturday 14 March. You can buy tickets from the complimentary tickets window before the game and for a short time afterwards. Places on the supporters’ coach can also be booked.

Dons Trust Stall

Supporters are welcome to find out more about the DT at an important time for the club by popping into the stall before the game.
