There was a memorable trip up north for AFC Wimbledon supporters two years ago with George Long leading the staying up celebrations!
On 1 May 2018, Wimbledon earned a hard-fought point at Doncaster to make mathematically certain of League One football for another season. The 0-0 draw wasn't pretty, but no one in blue and yellow cared about that and George Long, who is now at Hull City, celebrated passionately with our supporters.
Afterwards, George, who spent the whole of 2017/18 on loan with us, said: "It's been a long season, but we've all enjoyed it - it's been full of ups and downs. Some results have not gone our way, but some have gone our way, including a win at Blackburn and a draw at Wigan. I think the momentum that we've carried in the last five or six games has just been fantastic. It's been a real team effort and everyone in the squad and the staff have been needed. I have loved it here, the fans have taken to me, and I can't say enough good things about the club."
Take a look below at the celebrations from that memorable night at Doncaster.
