That pulsating finale from four years ago

Relive Tom Beere's dramatic winner

14 May 2020

When Bayo Akinfenwa cracked a shot against a post it looked like the night would end in frustration for Wimbledon, but Tom Beere had other ideas!

They were the stand-out moments from four years ago and that dramatic play-off final first leg win against Accrington Stanley.

The events of 14 May 2016 are certainly worth taking a look at again! Even after Beere's winner there was still time for Kelle Roos to make a superb save, as Wimbledon clung on to take a slender lead up to Accrington for the second leg.

Speaking this week about the build-up to the game, Paul Robinson said that there was a real sense of excitement amongst the squad.

“It was quite relaxed really," Robbo recalled. The boys were focused and we were in a really good place. We went on that winning run after Christmas and that set us up for the rest of the season. The approach for Accrington was focused, but also confident, and you could sense the excitement and anticipation for the play-off games ahead with everything that was at stake.”

Take a look below at the highlights from the 1-0 win against Accrington Stanley.
