Shane pleased to take unbeaten run into Plough Lane return match

In-form wing-back on Saturday's draw

2 November 2020

Shane McLoughlin can’t wait to run out at Plough Lane tomorrow night and he said that the squad will go into the match with confidence after picking up a point on Saturday.

Shane is fully aware of our remarkable story to get back there with his uncle David having been a supporter for many years – and the in-form Irishman would love to mark the occasion with a win.

“I think everyone in the squad is buzzing,” said Shane. “When we’ve been training down there everyone has been in good spirits. Unfortunately, the fans can’t be there. At least we have a good run going into the game with three matches unbeaten. Hopefully, we can make it four. I’m surprised with how quickly the new stadium has come together from pre-season when we went down to have a look. It’s looking very good.”

On Saturday’s draw in Buckinghamshire, Shane added: “It’s a point gained from an away game. They had a lot of the ball, but we had the better chances really. On another day the keeper doesn’t save that header from Sedds or the shot by Pigs in the second-half. Pigs has been scoring and creating goals since the start of the season. Hopefully, we can keep him firing.

“The first goal we conceded we could have done better with, but it didn’t feel like we were going to concede again. Even though they had a lot of the ball in the second-half, it didn’t feel like they were going to properly hurt us. We soaked up the pressure and hit them on the counter. I’m a little bit disappointed that we didn’t win, but it kept our unbeaten run going.”
