Praise for provider O'Neill after more away day joy

Captain on our impressive victory at Swindon

Captain Joe Pigott was quick to praise Luke O'Neill for his part in Wimbledon's winner at Swindon.

A superb cross by O'Neill created the all-important goal in Wiltshire for Pigott to finish off in style and the experienced defender's excellent deliveries have certainly been a useful attacking weapon since he joined us.

“If you look at the goals he’s provided for me since he came in, it’s been fantastic," said Pigott. "It was a really good cross from Luke and it was an awkward finish, but I just managed to guide it in. I love playing up front with ‘Longy’. He’s a great lad, he is very direct and dynamic, so he’s brilliant to play with.”

Speaking about the overall display and his role as captain, 'Pigs' added: “It was a great away performance, and we are absolutely buzzing. We really had to grind out a result. Possession wasn’t in our favour, but to come here and get the three points is absolutely brilliant. We still looked a threat, even though we had to defend. Hopefully, we can build on this win.

“I take pride from wearing the armband and I’m enjoying leading the troops. I’m trying to give out a few hard words when the time is right, but I try to praise the boys as much as I can and go into games positive. The competition for places is excellent.”

The pictures above sum up a nice away trip for the boys, but Pigs was staying relaxed afterwards as he wore his shades in the Wiltshire sunshine! (video interview below).
