Wearing yellow with pride to spread important message

Supporting a vital cause in the community

7 October 2020

Our Foundation staff were today out in the community encouraging people to wear yellow in support of the inaugural Lonely Not Alone campaign.

The initiative to help young people in the community who are feeling alone is supported by the Dons Trust and our Foundation.

Earlier today, the Foundation tweeted the following: “#OOTDYellowSocks day in @bwater_primary with assembly and loads of yellow @lonelynotalone representatives and children talking to others, including everyone @AFCWAcademy @AFCWimbledon @TheDonsTrust.”

The Lonely Not Alone campaign was launched earlier today, but it’s an important ongoing message to provide young people with our support, particularly at times when they are feeling lonely . The Lonely Not Alone website emphasises its importance by highlighting statistics, including the following:

“Just 31 per cent of young people would feel comfortable asking for help if they felt lonely.”

Our Foundation will be continuing to support this campaign at its Saturday morning football sessions with staff and children wearing yellow socks.

It’s not too late to show your support!

  • Wear yellow socks and share your Outfit of the Day on social media. Please include the hashtag #OOTDYellowSocks and make use of @lonelynotalone GIFs if you’re on Instagram or Facebook stories. Find these in stories by searching 'LonelyNotAlone' (all one word) in GIFs.
  • Share content: Retweet or share posts from Lonely Not Alone on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Spread the word: Let friends, colleagues, local businesses, and community groups know they can get involved, too!
