Ollie: We have to back this up with another win

Ollie Palmer was quick to target back-to-back victories for the first time this season after his explosive forward display put Accrington to the sword on Saturday.

Speaking after the emphatic victory in Lancashire on Saturday, Ollie said: “Robbo puts messages up around the training ground about being relentless and showing consistency, so we have to carry on winning. We have to back this up with a win against Ipswich on Tuesday. People get their inspiration from different places and you have to make sure you use that to give your best for Wimbledon, which is such a fantastic club.

“I have been frustrated and down about my hip injury, but in a way it’s pathetic that I’m going away and I’m angry. I’m injured, but I’m still healthy, and it’s been a tough year for millions of people, but for some more than others.

“I’m looking forward to finishing this season strongly and trying to help the team to get us out of the position we are in by scoring as many goals as possible. Everyone contributed to the win, it’s important to get goals and to keep clean sheets. We didn’t do that, and it was the man I was marking who scored, so it was something I needed to do today to get the team level again and put us ahead. It felt good to do that. Accrington is such a tough place to come to, so it’s good to travel back with the three points.”
