Young forward joins Woking on loan

Zach Robinson signs for National League club until the end of the season

Zach Robinson has been given an opportunity to gain more first-team experience after joining Woking on loan.

The 18-year-old, who is pictured scoring for the Dons in the Papa John's Trophy match versus Brighton earlier this season, has made eight first-team appearances this season. However, our Head Coach Mark Robinson feels that now is the right time for Zach to gain more experience at a good level in the National League.

"We had Alan Dowson and his assistant Ian Dyer in to visit us at the training ground a couple of weeks ago," said Robbo. "We are keen to build a relationship that will benefit both clubs by loaning them our young talent. This is how the loan for Zach has come about. It would have been easy and safe to have kept Zach around us in case we had injuries with him playing the odd friendly, but I believe this is where we have to look at the bigger picture.

"These players are going to be a big part of our future if we get their development right. Therefore getting him out to play 12 games of National League football before the season finishes is great for him, us, and I am sure Woking. Any other opportunities that arise with other young players before the season is out is something we will definitely look to take advantage of if the fit is right for all parties."

Woking, currently 19th in the National League, host Bromley on Tuesday night, and Zach could make his debut in that match. Zach has previously had prolific loan spells at Basingstoke Town and Leatherhead, and we wish him well at Woking for the rest of this season.
