Despite coming off the bench just 10 minutes earlier, Aaron Pressley had no hesitation in accepting responsibility to lead the way back for Wimbledon yesterday.
Considering he was playing in front of the biggest crowd in his short career – he spent the whole of last season playing for Brentford B – perhaps there was an element of trepidation in his mind, but Aaron showed no fear!
“I’ve taken a couple of penalties in my time, and I just make sure that I take them! You see all the best strikers in the world taking penalties. When you are on the pitch as a striker you have to be the one to step up and take it – and I did that.
“It was amazing to have the fans back in – it was the first time I had played here in front of supporters. The noise was special, and at the end it felt like a win!
Asked about playing in front of our supporters on such a landmark occasion, Aaron added: “On Tuesday night it was a very good away crowd, but today was special for the fans after so long away. You could feel the buzz even walking into the stadium. I was walking in, but I felt like I was jogging in at times because I was walking so fast – I was so excited!
