Coaching duo target landmark season after tips from Robbo

Mark Robinson helps forge closer club links with ladies first team

5 August 2021

Ladies Manager Kevin Foster and long-serving Goalkeeper Coach John Parker came away from an inspiring meeting with Robbo at the training ground this week, ready for what could be a landmark season.

Kevin and John were invited by Mark Robinson to our first team training base in New Malden to also meet and listen to a talk by Fijian rugby sevens hero Ben Ryan, who guided the country to gold medal success at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Afterwards, the pair spoke to us about their plans for 2021/22 in what could be a campaign to remember for AFC Wimbledon Ladies. Just as it has for Robbo, recruitment has gone well for Kevin with the quality additions of Ashlee Hincks and Lauren Pickett.

On Sunday, they visit Oxford City for their latest pre-season friendly, before our ladies take on Kent Football United at Colston Avenue on Sunday, August 15 in their FA Women’s National League opener. Ultimately though our ladies look set to join the men’s first team by playing their home games at Plough Lane from October.
