Match-winner Anthony Hartigan was quick to point out Wimbledon must do better, after his late strike sealed a place in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
The Dons weren’t at their best at Sixfields Stadium and scraped past hosts Northampton Town, but created a little piece of history as it became the furthest we’ve been in the competition since we returned to the Football League in 2011.
“It needs to be better,” said Anthony shortly after the final whistle. “We need to demand more from each other all over the pitch really, in all aspects – on and off the ball
“I don’t think we really turned up tonight. We didn’t play as well as what we have been doing in previous games, for whatever reason that is – I don’t know.
"These are the games we need to win. When we’re not playing so good, we need to come away with a win. That’s what we’re here to do – make history. That’s what we said in there before. This team wants to make history together and push the club forward and progress.”
