New volunteer roles for 2021/22 season

Help make a difference at your club

In preparation for our first season at Plough Lane with fans, volunteers are wanted to fill a number of new roles.

Volunteers have played an integral part in our rise since the reformation of AFC Wimbledon, and the club, as ever, will be very grateful for your support.

The full list of volunteer vacancies is below with an e-mail address at the bottom of this page if you can help.

KidZone volunteer

The Foundation are looking for a team of volunteers to support the Foundation staff on matchday. More about this role is below:

  • You would be volunteering on Saturday match days between 1pm and 2.45pm.
  • You will have had experience of working with children.
  • There are a number of activities involved varying from crafts to football!
  • A DBS will be carried out on all volunteers.

Traffic Coordinator

We are looking for 2 traffic coordinators, the role involves:

  • Directing away team coach, away officials, and match officials vehicles to their appropriate parking spaces.
  • Direct vehicles who are dropping off fans in the disability area and ensure they leave the ground safely after.
  • This role is required on Saturdays between 12:00pm – 2:00pm and evening games between 4.45-6.45pm.

Programme Sellers

We are looking for additional programme sellers to join our team.

The role involves:

  • Collecting boxes of programmes from collection point.
  • Setting up selling pitch.
  • Selling programmes and returning unsold programmes to collection point.
  • The role is required on Saturdays between 1pm-2.45pm and evening games between 6pm-7.30pm.

Accreditation volunteer

We are looking for an accreditation officer to work alongside the accreditation lead in assisting the registration on match days of volunteers.

The role involves:

  • Signing in match day volunteers at the volunteer hub.
  • Handing out accreditation match day passes.
  • Assisting with any queries volunteers have.
  • The role is required on Saturdays between 9am-1pm and evening games, hours to be decided.

Refreshment hosts

We are looking for two refreshment hosts.

The role involves:

  • Meeting up with fans that are unable to access the food concessions at half time, the hosts will ensure that fans orders are collected and brought to them during the half time period.
  • This role is needed on both afternoon and evening games.

Turnstile attendants

We are looking for turnstile attendants.

The role involves:

  • Assisting fans at the turnstiles with any issues they have in entering the ground, directing the fans to the ticket office or collection points. You will be working alongside stewards who will be overseeing entry into the ground.
  • The role is required on Saturdays between 1pm-2.45pm and evening games to be confirmed.

Match day ticket sellers

We are looking for match day ticket sellers. The role involves:

  • Selling match day tickets to fans at the ticket counters in the club shop.
  • Selling match day tickets to away fans at the ticket office at away end of the ground.
  • The role is required on Saturdays between 1pm-2.45pm and evening games between 6.00pm-7.30pm.

Golden Goals sellers
We are looking for Golden Goal sellers to join our team. The role involves:

  • Selling Golden Goal tickets to fans. The sellers are based around the stadium, and they sellers collect their tickets from the team leaders. They sell tickets up until the start of the game on Saturdays.

Match day media host

We are looking for a match day volunteer to welcome press /media guests at the media room on the ground floor of the West Stand.
The role involves:

  • Welcoming and engaging, and will be issuing passes and bibs, plus directing people correctly.
  • Looking after the ground floor media rooms, but you will be supported by a steward.
  • Being able to say no with confidence to requests from media - it happens occasionally!

Skills needed:

  • Good head for faces and names. Reliable and organised.
  • Have common sense approach to the role.
  • Interest in media, and the importance it plays in the club
  • Able to think for themselves, but also comfortable seeking help, when required.
  • Understand the Football Data Co process for accreditation of media.

Club shop volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to join the club shop team on match days, both pre and post-match.

  • Ideally you will be able to operate a till system.
  • You will assist in keeping the shop floor stocked and assist customers.
  • Good sense of humour essential!

Midweek Stadium volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to join the mid-week stadium general upkeep team.
There are no fixed tasks and so the role is variable in nature.
No special skills are required, being able to work as part of a friendly team is all you need.
Basic DIY skills could be useful at times, but are not necessary.
Some of the tasks performed so far are include:

  • Moving furniture and other items around within the West stand internal areas.
  • Stacking barriers, fitting coat hooks, taping up seats that are not to be used due to Covid/test event restrictions, and removing that tape at a later date.

No doubt the future will bring us different jobs to perform as requested by the Stadium Facilities Manager. One of those jobs could be to action a stadium checklist a day or two following a home game and report the findings to the Stadium Facilities Manager. We would source this on a rota basis from those happy to do so. There is no involvement on match days.
