The following statement is critically important for all season ticket holders planning to attend our historic opening home game of the season against Bolton on Saturday – and the home fixture against Gillingham three days later...
Due to circumstances completely beyond our control, there has regrettably been a delay in the delivery of season ticket cards for the forthcoming campaign. Although the vast majority would arrive before the weekend, we do not want to run the risk of fans being unable to see our opening two games because their cards didn’t arrive in time.
We have therefore decided to postpone the mail out until next week commencing 16th Aug and to continue with the system we operated during our previous test event matches. Tickets for these games will be sent to every season ticket holders online account so they can be downloaded or printed out.
Our chief executive Joe Palmer explained: “These games are extra special, especially the first one against Bolton which is effectively our proper Plough Lane homecoming. We completely realise how long our fans have been waiting for this moment and we do not want anything to get in the way.
“Our priority is to be 100 per cent certain that every single fan will be able to attend and this is the safest way of guaranteeing that happens.
“Even though these cards would probably have arrived on time we do not want to take any risks, so have instructed the fulfilment house to post them out next week so as not to cause confusion with the downloaded tickets. We will use them properly for the first time when we play Oxford United at home on September 4.
“I’d like to thank supporters in advance for their understanding and cooperation. I’m sure they will appreciate that we are doing everything possible to solve a delivery-stage problem that was out of our hands.”
We will inform fans when the tickets are ready for download.
