Sense of occasion not lost on Nik and Will

Dons duo determined to extend our winning run for the fans

Nik Tzanev and Will Nightingale are not just teammates, but firm friends away from Plough Lane and the pair are determined to preserve our winning start on a day when history is made.

Ahead of this Saturday’s first league game at Plough Lane for 30 years in front of fans, we sat down for a chat at a vibrant training ground. Although neither were around the last time Wimbledon played in front of a full house at our real home, the sense of occasion isn’t lost on them.

Having both figured in the opening day victory at Doncaster, Nik also played an important role in the build-up to our goal in the Carabao Cup at Charlton in midweek. On Saturday both players are aiming to help the Dons extend a winning run to three games in all competitions, against newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers.

There was plenty to talk about with both Nik and Will, who along with the rest of the coaching and playing staff were in great spirits at our New Malden training base in the lead up to the game.

New Zealand international goalkeeper Nik told us about the new artwork on his arm that ties him closer to his family and the country he proudly represents. Will, meanwhile, is adapting to family life having become a new Dad recently!
