Xavier Wiggins was quick to salute the collective effort of all those volunteers involved with the remarkable work of Dons Local Action Group after a successful night at Merton Best Business Awards.
Xavier, along with Craig Wellstead, and Cormac van der Hoeven, received the Kindness in the Community accolade, sponsored by Merton Council. The award was in recognition of “three special, local people who have gone above and beyond to help others.”
Dons Local Action Group was also selected for the Breakthrough Charity award, sponsored by the New Wimbledon Theatre.
Following the awards, Xavier said: “We will never get tired of receiving recognition for the work of our volunteers, our community, our partners, and our incredible football club. We might go and pick up the actual trophies but these are for all of you. Always.”
A host of local and national awards have been awarded to DLAG since its inception in March 2020 when the charity was initially started by collecting food to distribute to those in crisis at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.
