Making a difference during lockdown

Foundation staff deliver sports equipment

12 February 2021

Our AFC Wimbledon Foundation has provided a helping hand to school pupils at a very difficult time by donating sports equipment in the local community this week.

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) had provided the equipment to Foundation staff to help with the delivery of its sessions in Wimbledon and other local areas, but it was decided this time around to make donations directly to schools.

Foundation Director Philip Rudling said: “We were delighted to be able to donate large packs of free sports equipment provided by the Professional Footballers’ Association to the Foundation.  We usually reserve these for our own use at Foundation practical sessions, but we decided to give these to some of the schools we work with regularly. This will encourage youngsters to take part in as much physical activity as possible, for those currently attending schools, and for all when pupils return full-time.’’

Children currently attending schools have been enjoying the new sports equipment, testing it all out for when their classmates return!

The schools that this week benefitted from free sports equipment are as follows:

Hillbrook

Rutherford House

Christchurch Battersea

Bond

Granard

Broadwater

Smallwood

Fircroft

Penwortham

Benedict

Haselmere

Cricket green

Garrett Park
