Dons sign striker from Kingstonian

Wimbledon boost attacking options with arrival of Corie Andrews

31 January 2021

AFC Wimbledon have offered Corie Andrews an opportunity to reignite his football career after an impressive spell at Kingstonian this season.

The 23-year-old, who spent a decade with Crystal Palace’s academy, struck nine goals in 11 competitive appearances for Ks before the Isthmian League Premier Division campaign was suspended.

Interim Manager Mark Robinson said: “I have only seen Corie train a couple of times and as he was signed before Saturday’s game all I can say right now is what a fantastic opportunity the young man has been given. I look forward to seeing how he attacks the opportunity to forge a career at our club.”

Kingstonian manager Hayden Bird described Corie as ‘a natural goalscorer’ and he believes that the striker will go from strength to strength after earning this opportunity.

Corie was a highly-rated player during his Palace youth days, earning the academy player of the year in 2014, and he was rewarded with a professional contract at the age of 17, but first-team football eluded him with the Eagles, and he had spells in non league with Margate, Kingstonian, and Whyteleafe. He re-signed for Ks in July, and he marked his last competitive appearance for the club by scoring a hat-trick in a 3-1 win versus Haringey Borough.

Keep an eye out on the official website and our social media channels in the coming days for an interview with Corie.
