Sam Walker said the squad will be giving everything on Saturday in pursuit of the points to start climbing the League One table – and he is relishing the opportunity provided by his Wimbledon loan move.

Speaking ahead of the match at Plough Lane versus Milton Keynes Dons, Sam said: “We are just hugely excited to be honest. It is another opportunity for us to get some points on the board and get a win at home, so that we can move ourselves up the league. We are aware of the emotion that comes with the game, and we’ve taken that on board, and we are going to go out there and give everything to put in a performance that warrants winning the game. From a personal point of view, a clean sheet would be nice as well!

“I got off to a really good start at Bristol Rovers on that Tuesday night. It hasn’t gone quite so well since then in the league, but we are all working really hard to shift the momentum, and get us up that table. The result wasn’t what we wanted it to be at Doncaster, but equally there were positives from our perspective. We had some good play with things we had been working on, and it’s about taking those positives into the game tomorrow, so that we put in a good performance.

“DJ (Darnell Johnson) was calm and assured on Tuesday night and George (Dobson) came on and made an impact. They are going to be valuable additions in the second-half of the season. They have both settled in really well.”

Sam added that he’s loving the experience of everyday life at Wimbledon, as he strives to keep on improving at the age of 29.

“Bayzo is just so full of positive energy. I had heard lots of good things about him and they’ve all been true so far. I have really enjoyed working with him on parts of my game. Ultimately, I’m trying to contribute to the team, so that we move up the league.”
