Obed Yeboah strikes in Orient win after clash with a Dons hero!

Updates from recent matches for our U-18s and U-19s

AFC Wimbledon Under-18s hit the goal trail last night with an impressive victory versus Leyton Orient.

Marcel Campbell scored Wimbledon’s first in a 4-2 win with Welsh youth international Morgan Williams striking a double and Obed Yeboah, nephew of former Leeds United striker Tony, also on target. The match against Orient came just three days after Obed played for a Dons U-19s side in a friendly game at Dorking Wanderers when he showed he was up for a battle with our former captain Barry Fuller! The man who captained Wimbledon to Wembley glory in 2016 was part of a Dorking side that earned a 2-0 win against our Under-19s on Saturday. With Dorking second in National League South before the suspension of the season, it was always going to be a tough test for Wimbledon's youngsters.

Matthew Cox showed his goalkeeping skills by denying Dorking early on, but the hosts did take the lead in the 15th minute through Alfie Rutherford. Just before the break came a golden opportunity to equalise. Ayoub Assal won the ball close to the halfway line and showed superb drive and skill to power into the area, before being fouled in the box. However, Assal had his penalty well saved after stepping up to take the spot-kick himself.

Wimbledon battled away in search of an equaliser during the second-half, but Dorking sealed victory. Dons defender Luke Jenkins did very well to block a shot, but the ball unfortunately fell nicely for Ollie Allen, who finished clinically for Dorking.
