It’s one of the toughest and most important questions we face as a club.
In fact, in the entire history of AFC Wimbledon there’s rarely been an issue that’s caused so much inn-house debate! Yes, folks. It’s time to answer, once and for all, the burning question that has been plaguing us all… What shall we call our Plough Lane pub?
There are some clear favourites of course and The Batsford Arms is right up there for obvious reasons. But there are some others floating about. The Plough? The Speckled Hen-eghan? The White Hart-igan? The George (Dobson)? The Cheye Alexandra? The John Green Man? Then there’s some historic alternatives: The Castle-dine Inn? The Dog and Beasant? The Speckled Hen-ley?
Once we’ve agreed on the right name, there’s little doubt what we’ll all be drinking in our new pub – Tom Beere, Nesta Guinness-Walker and Barry Fullers spring immediately to mind. Not to mention Will Nighting-ale. Anyhow, you get the drift.
The important thing is we want to hear your suggestions by 17:00 BST, Wednesday 16 June 2021. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Dons Trust member, a season ticket/debenture holder, or just a loyal fan – we want to hear from one and all. Please make your suggestions by filling in this voting form .
Once all your names are in, the Dons Trust Board will select their favourites and compile a shortlist, which will be voted on by all Dons Trust members. If you are not a member, you can find out more by visiting the Dons Trust website .
