An update on injuries to Callum and Darnell

Physio Tim Maynard’s latest news from the treatment room

23 March 2021

Callum Reilly has been ruled out for the rest of this season after suffering a fractured ankle.

Our physio Tim Maynard today updated us with the unfortunate news at the training ground, revealing the full extent of the injury that forced Callum off in the recent home game versus Wigan.

"Callum Reilly sustained an ankle fracture and he played on with it for a bit, which was impressive to say the least, but he will now be out for the remainder of the season, and we will look to get him stronger when the boot comes off after six weeks."

The diagnosis is not as bad for on-loan Leicester City defender Darnell Johnson, but he is likely to be out for around six weeks.

"DJ picked up an ankle injury in the same Wigan match, it was a similar ligament injury to what Paul Kalambayi and Luke O'Neill suffered, but he doesn't require surgery. He will be conservatively managed and it looks like it will be around the six-week mark for him."

All at AFC Wimbledon wish Callum and Darnell well in their recuperation from injury.
