Our young Dons head to Sutton United this weekend, looking to take their winning run to twelve games, having survived a scare last Saturday.

Fourth in the table Southend took the lead in the first half of our latest Youth Alliance League game at the training ground. However, Quaine Bartley (pictured) levelled the scores, Remi Onabanjo put us in front and a second half goal from Archie Stevens completed the turnaround, as we now sit six points clear at the top of the South East section and with a far superior goal difference over second place Cambridge.

“We wanted to start the game quick, but I think we let ourselves down,” said Under-18s Head Coach James Oliver-Pearce. “We went a goal down early on and deservedly so, as Southend flew out the blocks a lot quicker than us.

“I thought it took us the first quarter of the game or so to settle down and when we did, we were in control. The goals that we scored were really well worked, the first two and things that we’d worked on, which was great to see. I just wished we’d done that from the start!

“We were much more controlled and gave an assured performance after the break. There’s always that little bit of apprehension when you don’t get that third goal, but when the chance came Archie (Stevens) made no mistake."

You can see highlights and all the goals from our victory over Southend last Saturday below.
