New Covid-19 Protocols

30 November 2021

Following the Government’s new Covid guidance we will be ramping up our own precautions - starting with Saturday’s home FA Cup game against Cheltenham.

From now on, all fans will be encouraged to wear face coverings at every home game in all our stadium’s internal areas. This includes the VIP lounges and boxes, as well as the main concourse and reception areas, club shop and The Phoenix. We will be reinforcing the NHS track and trace QR code, which we would kindly ask fans to scan upon entry to the stadium. We would also ask supporters  to observe social distancing and use the hand sanitiser stations where possible.

For our home game on the 18th December against Portsmouth, we will be introducing a random spot check prior to entry to the stadium. This will require our stewards/volunteers to ask fans to show either a negative lateral flow test or a covid passport in digital or print form.

It must be stressed that these checks are for research purposes only to provide Covid data to help support the work of the local health authority. If fans are unable to provide evidence of one of these documents, they will NOT be refused entry to the Stadium. We will be providing further details about these protocols prior to the 18th.

As has been the case for all matches this season, please remember to adhere to the following:

  • Do not attend the match if you display Covid-19 symptoms 48 hours prior to the game;
  • Please do not attend the match if you have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 10 days;
  • Please do not attend the match if you are currently self-isolating.

While we are trying to keep everything on a voluntary basis, it is clearly in all our interests to apply common sense as new government guidelines are introduced.

None of us wants to see a return to empty stands and we thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

The club would also like to take this opportunity to ask for volunteer support with the random spot checks at home matches, starting at our December 18 game. If you would like to help with this task, please email:  volunteerofficer@afcwimbledon.ltd.uk.
