Aaron unlikely to be recalled as Robbo takes long-term approach

An update from our Head Coach

Mark Robinson today said that Aaron Cosgrave is likely to remain at Dover Athletic for the rest of this season.

Pacy forward Aaron (pictured) scored a superb individual goal for the National League club on Tuesday, but Robbo is not contemplating bringing him back, despite Ollie Palmer’s unavailability due to injury.

Asked about the possibility of Aaron being recalled in January, Robbo said: “I want to avoid it, unless it’s a necessity. I’m a big believer in the lads playing football all of the time, so I don’t want to bring him in and then he’s sitting on the bench and coming on for 20 minutes. At the moment he’s playing 90 minutes of football every week, and that’s going to put him in much better stead for next season than if I just bring him into the squad because we are a little light.

“Unless we get injuries I’m fully confident that we can still be really effective with what we’ve got, and we can cope. If that’s not the case I will have to look at it, but I don’t want to do it just for the sake of it. I want these lads out playing football and developing, and that’s what’s happening at the moment. They are all playing lots of football, apart from the couple that have been injured. It appears that they are getting better and better. Elliott Bolton and Alfie Bendle are just one round away from the FA Cup proper now, which is exciting, and they are both performing really well. That’s the same across the board.”
