Right-back Henry earns England call-up

Chelsea loanee added to Under-20s squad for forthcoming games

Right-back Henry Lawrence has been called up to the England Under-20 squad for matches against their Italian and Czech Republic counterparts this month.

Chelsea loanee Lawrence has been in eye-catching form for The Dons and made 14 first-team appearances under Head Coach Mark Robinson, since arriving at The Cherry Red Records Stadium this summer.

Lawrence had been on stand-by, but now links-up with his England teammates – which includes former AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Matthew Cox, now of Brentford. The squad assemble at St. George’s Park this week, before facing Italy at Chesterfield’s Technique Stadium on Thursday (kick-off 7pm) and then travelling to Teplice next Monday for the game against the Czech Republic (kick-off 4pm).

On-loan Watford forward Dapo Mebude has been called up for Scotland’s UEFA European Under-21 Qualifier at home to Denmark at Tynecastle on Thursday 7 October. Defender Dan Csoka could play in the same competition for Hungary Under-21s in home qualifiers versus Poland and Germany on 8 October and 12 October. Goalkeeper Nik Tzanev has been called up by the New Zealand national squad for friendly matches against Curacao and Bahrain, both in Manama, Bahrain.

Academy midfielder Morgan Williams was also called up for a training camp with the Welsh Under-18s squad.
