Loan watch: Bolton and Bendle bounce back

Young Dons midfield duo overcome Cup disappointment

25 October 2021

Midfield duo Elliott Bolton and Alfie Bendle returned to winning ways on Saturday.

The duo, along with their Corinthian-Casuals teammates, were just edged out of their FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay at St Albans City in midweek - going out 4-2 on penalties after extra-time, following a gallant effort. However, that winning feeling soon returned at the weekend as they figured in the 1-0 victory over Hornchurch in the Isthmian Premier, with Bendle completing 85 minutes before being substituted.

Winger Dylan Adjei-Hersey got the edge over his former under-18s teammate Kwaku Frimpong in an Isthmian Premier Surrey derby on Saturday. In-form Merstham came away from Fetcham Grove with all three points after their 3-2 victory over Leatherhead, for whom Frimpong came on and played the final twenty minutes.

Striker David Fisher had a chance to break the deadlock for Hampton & Richmond midway through the second half, in their National League South meeting with Chippenham Town. It finished honours even though at The Beveree, with a goalless draw the outcome.

Elliott Bolton is pictured in action for The Dons against Brentford.
