Help us introduce a whole new generation of fans to our club

26 October 2021

Cup clash gives us unique chance to welcome schools and families - but we need season ticket and debenture holders to back us.

It's the competition that's nearest to our hearts - one that is etched deep into our history and fires our imaginations like no other. In two weeks' time it also gives us a wonderful opportunity to do something bold and inspirational - but we need support to make it happen.

On November 6 we will be playing Guiseley in the Emirates FA Cup first round at The Cherry Red Records Stadium. It's the beginning of the road to Wembley, a moment when we can fondly remember 1988 all over again and our heroic triumph over Liverpool.

It's also a moment when we can do something magical and introduce a whole new generation of supporters to our club and get them forever excited about AFC Wimbledon. This game is unlikely to be a sell-out but we want to get as many people in as we can - with help from season ticket and debenture holders.

We’d like the opportunity to fill our new stadium with new people, particularly children and families, so they can sample all that's great about our club and our new home on their doorsteps.

To do this, we have reserved blocks specifically for schools and local amateur clubs. It's a wonderful way to engage with our wider community, but there is a potential barrier. These blocks include seats that are already reserved for season ticket holders and debenture holders - and they have a priority right to buy Cup tickets first in these seats.

So, purely as a one-off for this match, we are offering those loyal supporters priority to purchase tickets elsewhere in the stadium, with no restrictions. Our chief executive Joe Palmer confirmed: "Absolutely nobody who wants to see the game will miss out.  In fact those fans will get to cherry pick the best alternative seats in the stadium. In return, they'll be doing something pretty special by helping us implement this plan."

Dons Trust co-chair Xavier Wiggins added:  "We have always been a club that prides itself in doing the right things for our community. Our AFC Wimbledon Foundation and the Dons Local Action Group volunteers are prime examples of this. Now we have a chance to give something back once again, so let's open our doors wide and show everyone what we are all about."
