An update from Mick Buckley

Our Interim Chair provides end of season bulletin

28 April 2022

Many fans are understandably keen for information about next season.

Lots of key questions are being asked - from how to renew season tickets to who the first-team manager will be and the size of our playing budget.

The following is a brief update from our interim chair Mick Buckley, who addresses some of the key areas you are asking about:

Season Tickets for next season

I am pleased to confirm the window for existing season ticket holders to renew their seats will open next week, after the Bank Holiday. We will be unveiling an exclusive, time-limited offer - plus changes to the tariffs and an unbeatable price structure for families.

Appointing a permanent first-team manager

We would all like to make this appointment as quickly as possible in order to make plans for the next campaign. As you are all aware, the summer break is much shorter than normal due to the World Cup in December.

That means we need to sort out player contracts and recruitment plans as soon as this campaign is over - and having a manager in place is a preferable part of that process.

All I can say, at the moment, is that recruitment discussions are already under way and we will be making an announcement as soon as we have an appointment.

Playing budget for next season

On Tuesday, we were able to confirm we will no longer have any debt secured on our stadium. This is exceptionally good news and helps put our club in a financially robust position. The Plough Lane Bond 2 has helped enormously and I'd like to thank everyone who contributed.

While that doesn't mean we suddenly have millions to spend, we are - at least - able to review the playing budget with certainty and make some concrete decisions. This is happening right now and I am confident we will have a competitive budget for next season.

Our Player of the Season awards

Despite the disappointing results, there have still been some outstanding contributions out on the pitch and I'm delighted to confirm our player of the season awards will be presented after Saturday's game.

The categories will be: Young Player of the Year; Club Player of the Year; Players' Player of the Year; Junior Dons' Player of the Year and Player of the Year.

The winners will be revealed around 3.00pm outside The Phoenix pub - immediately after Saturday's man-of-the-match award ceremony.

Tickets for our last match

We have already sold an incredible 7,400 tickets for our final game of the season against Accrington Stanley.

It’s been incredible the way fans have consistently turned up in large numbers to support the team - despite the obvious challenges on the pitch.

There are still some tickets remaining for Saturday's game but hurry because demand remains extremely high. Just don't forget that kick off is earlier than usual and will be at 12.30pm instead of 3pm!
