Help make a difference on matchdays

2 August 2022

As a club, we are welcoming to all and we want to ensure our disabled fans and supporters get the best experience when following the Dons.

We are looking for disabled fans, their friends and family, qualified professionals in the field and allies, to join the club’s Disabled Supporters Association (DSA).

The DSA, which was set up in 2018, works in partnership with the Club, our Foundation, the Dons Trust and Level Playing Field, to break down barriers. This will ensure that more disabled fans can come to our matches feeling safe and supported, therefore forging better relationships and ongoing communication to ensure the best matchday experience.

Moving into a new stadium gave us an opportunity to improve facilities for disabled fans, including step free access, a changing places (changing-places.org) toilet facility, better inclusive seating and companion seats, along with wheelchair accessibility and assistance dog support.

However, there’s always room for improvement, according to Jess Barnes, who is Chair of the Disabled Supporters Association.

“Whilst we have done a lot as a club for disabled supporters and their families, there is always more we can do, so we would love to expand the DSA and have more people involved. Disabled supporters will then feel safe and supported. Please do get in touch with Mandy if you can spare a couple of hours to join the DSA."

If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact Mandy Bynon, the Club’s Inclusion Officer, by Monday 8 August. E-mail dlo@afcwimbledon.ltd.uk to register your interest.

A meeting of the DSA is being planned for later this month/early September, and once you’ve expressed an interest we will contact you to find the best date for everyone involved.

Level Playing Field is a registered charity, which acts as a campaigning and advisory organisation to help ensure there are disabled facilities at clubs and stadia across the country, providing an understanding of good practice for disabled fans.
