Striker handed pro deal

Powerful frontman puts pen to paper

We are pleased to announce that Academy graduate Quaine Bartley has signed his first professional contract with AFC Wimbledon.

Quaine joined the Academy as an Under-13, having previously been at Tottenham Hotspur and has since progressed up the ranks. Playing a pivotal role for the Under-18s last season, his 20-plus goals helped the Academy secure its first ever Youth Alliance League title.

The striker will now be looking to take the next step on his development pathway at the Cherry Red Records Stadium and we look forward to watching his progress with interest.

Speaking after Quaine signed his two-year contract, Academy Manager Michael Hamilton said:

’’We’re delighted that Quaine and all parties involved have come to an agreement that now enables us all to work together to maximise this young man’s undoubted potential.

“Quaine is a powerful centre-forward, who is technically very good, as effective outside the box as in it, and has played a huge part in the Academy’s progression over the last two seasons. Off the pitch, he is hugely popular, although I think the senior players may need to give him some lessons on what good music sounds like!

“When a player makes his debut or starts to make his face known with the first team, what often gets missed is the story behind getting a player to that point. A lot of development both on and off the pitch has gone into Q’s journey and we must acknowledge the role of James Oliver-Pearce and Rob Tuvey in Q’s progression to date.

“He is an exciting prospect with a very bright future and if he continues to apply himself in the correct way, he can play a big part in helping the club to be successful in the years to come.”
