AFC Wimbledon is sending out an urgent appeal for witnesses after an object was thrown on the pitch during tonight’s match against Cheltenham.
The club is determined to stamp out such unacceptable and irresponsible behaviour and CCTV is currently being reviewed alongside the police and relevant authorities.
The object - a sharp edged-vaping device - was thrown onto the pitch immediately after Cheltenham had scored from the penalty spot.
It was picked up, subsequently seen by the match referee, and will almost certainly be included in his report.
The club would welcome any information that might help us find the person responsible. We categorically condemn such behaviour and if the culprit is apprehended that person will face an indefinite ban.
