Captain Alex Woodyard is edging closer to a return, having stepped up his rehabilitation at our latest training session.
Head Coach Mark Robinson is having to keep the reins on at times, with our enthusiastic skipper eager to get back and do all he can to help the cause. Woody has progressed from straight line running to working with a ball and Lead Sports Scientist Martin Davidson at our New Malden training base.
Although Saturday’s trip to Bolton Wanderers is too soon for the midfielder, a return to full training doesn’t seem far away, if his recovery continues from the hamstring injury which he picked up in the 1-1 draw at Burton, remarkably still less than a month ago.
Stand-in captain Ben Heneghan, rejuvenated Ethan Chislett and new striker Sam Cosgrove all caught the eye at training on Thursday, as we prepared for the visit to the University of Bolton Stadium this weekend.
