Cheers! Tomorrow’s game will see us trial a brand new app which will help you enjoy your half-time pint - without spending 15 minutes stuck in a queue.
Yes, the days of missing the second half kick-off really will be a thing of the past by downloading the innovative SwipeStation.
The mobile app enables supporters to order a pint anywhere in the stadium before the game - and then collect it at a fast lane, either pre-match or at half-time.
That’s not all, either! The app even works offline, which means you can place an order without Wi-Fi connectivity. Obviously, the app does require initial connectivity to download, so why not do it at home before you come to the game?
The new service will run on a pilot basis for the next five matches, starting with tomorrow’s game against Shrewsbury.
For the trial period, we will be operating five swipe station machines in the Cappagh (West) Stand and two in the Ry (East) Stand.
Camden Pale Ale and Stella Artois will initially be the two drinks available on SwipeStation, although we’ll aim to expand the menu if the app proves to be popular.
Bal Srai, Revenue and Operations Manager at AFC Wimbledon, said: “This is an innovative way to boost the matchday experience for Dons supporters. We are the first London football club to use SwipeStation and the main aim is to reduce queuing times for supporters at peak times.
“Following the launch of the Speedway Bar in the South London Movers Stand at the Morecambe game, this is another initiative to help your matchday run smoothly.
“The SwipeStation app has been successfully introduced at other sports clubs and if the trial goes successfully it will be great to introduce it on a permanent basis on matchdays.”
The SwipeStation app removes the entire payment process from the service area. By the time you’ve got to the fast Lane, you have already chosen, ordered and paid for your drinks.
How to use SwipeStation
- Download SwipeStation from the App Store or Google Play and add your card details and email address (like you would for Uber, or to buy a drink in a pub!)
- Browse the menu and add products to your basket. Once you’re happy with your selection, payment will be made and the app will turn your order into a unique QR code. This will contain your ID (encrypted) and the contents of your order.
- Scan this QR code at a SwipeStation machine. The SwipeStation is hardwired to the internet, so is able to process your transaction swiftly and securely.
- The SwipeStation will print off a piece of paper showing your order, which you take to the designated fast lane and exchange for your refreshments. It’s simple, quick and easy.
