Fresh from putting pen to paper on his new contract with the Dons, a motivated Elliott Bolton was keen to send out a clear message – it’s time to concentrate on the football.
Our 20-year-old midfielder is currently on his way back to full fitness and is understandably keen to get back on the pitch as soon as possible after getting his future sorted.
“I’m really happy to have signed the contract, so I can just concentrate on the football now,” he said. “I’m delighted to have got it sorted out. I loved going out on loan and getting experience of men’s football last season.”
Elliott earnt some vital experience on loan with Corinthian-Casuals – and it's certainly a spell that he looks back on fondly having also been joined by Alfie Bendle during the 2021/22 season.
Casuals are well known for their loyal and extremely vocal support and the midfielder was only too quick to acknowledge just how big an impact the fans had during his time at King George's Field.
“It was a great atmosphere that the fans created over there and that’s why I loved playing for that club. Especially during the FA Cup run, the fans really lifted us and I felt a lot of confidence playing in the matches. I really enjoyed playing for Casuals.
“With Alfie (Bendle) also on loan there, we played together with a lot of confidence, playing like we would normally under no pressure, so I loved being alongside him.”
As for how his recovery is going, Elliott is certainly feeling positive about what’s to come as he enters the home straight before finally getting back on the pitch.
“It’s going well. It has been a slow process after I suffered the injury at the back end of last season, but I’m recovering well and I’m probably a few weeks away now,” he said. “Today I’ve been doing leg work and a bit of work on the bike. I can’t wait to be back, so that I’m enjoying playing football again. When I’m back on the football pitch I will be really happy.”
Away from the field of play the Academy graduate has been taking in all the action of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships – with yesterday’s victory for the enigmatic Nick Kyrgios being a big highlight.
“I loved the Kyrgios match on Court One at Wimbledon and I’m a big tennis fan. I love going to Wimbledon and enjoying it. I would probably take on JC (Jack Currie) in a match – I know he has a bit about him. He’s good at a lot of sports.”
